Islamabad, Oct 11: The International Research Council for Religious Affairs (IRCRA), in collaboration with the Directorate of Planning & Development, Bacha Khan University Charsadda (BKUC), successfully hosted a one-day national conference centered on the theme: “Uniting Community Leaders, Youth, and Communities for Peace, Climate Resilience, and Sustainable Development.”
This important event brought together around 200 participants, including scholars, community leaders, youth representatives, and climate action advocates. The aim was to foster a collaborative dialogue on global peace, National Narrative Pegham e Pakistan, climate resilience, and sustainable and inclusive tourism.
The conference opened with a recitation and prayers, followed by a welcome address from Mr. Muhammad Israr, President of IRCRA. He emphasized the importance of harnessing collaboration for peace, climate action, and sustainable tourism. In his keynote address, Prof. Dr. Zahid Hussain, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Bacha Khan University, highlighted the pressing need to address the climate crisis through education and peacebuilding initiatives.
The conference covered diversified topics, such as:
- Integrated Framework for Global, regional Peace, Climate Action, and Sustainable Tourism by Dr. Naila, Chairperson of the Economic Department at BKUC.
- Youth Empowerment in Relation to Climate Change by Dr. Muhammad Kamran, Head of Islamic Studies at BKUC.
- Mobilizing Religious Leaders and Communities for Climate Action, delivered by regional connectivity, social harmony, Mr. Khurshid Nadeem, Chairman of the National Rahmatul-lil-Aalameen Wa Khatamun Nabiyyin Authority.
- Islamic Perspectives on Sustainability, Social inclusion and resilience by Dr. Qibla Ayaz, Member of the Shariat Bench, Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The conference emphasized the role of youth and religious leaders in promoting peace, harmony , climate action and sustainable development, reinforcing the necessity for integrated, faith-based approaches to social and environmental stewardship.
