Islamabad, Oct 15: Former Pakistani Cricketer Slams Curator for Multan Pitch

Former international Basit Ali is upset with Australian pitch curator Tony Hemming over the pitch that was utilized in Pakistan’s first test against England.

Hemming was the target of harsh criticism from Basit, who said that the Australian was incapable of properly preparing a cricket pitch. His comments follow Pakistan’s historic loss to England in the first Test match, which took place in Multan on a pitch that did not provide any help for either side’s bowlers.

He promptly brought up a valid point: perhaps Hemming’s lack of experience with Pakistani cricket conditions is the reason he hasn’t been able to suggest supportive tracks for Pakistani bowlers.

The cricket community worldwide was quick to criticize the Multan surface for failing to facilitate spin bowling, which was anticipated to be a major factor in the game for both sides.

Throughout the game, England’s Shoaib Bashir only took one wicket, although Jack Leach, a seasoned bowler, depended more on his ability to bowl than the state of the pitch.

Abrar Ahmed, a spinner from Pakistan, had a difficult encounter; he bowled 35 overs and gave up 174 runs without getting a wicket before being declared out sick. Saim Ayub and Samlan Ali Agha, meantime, enjoyed success in spurts but also leaked runs for amusement.

Tony Hemming will be hoping that in the second test, which is being held on the same surface, Basit Ali has nothing to complain about. In the expectation that the pitch will favor their spinners, Pakistan has selected a side strong on spin for the second Test.

Abdullah Shafique, Saim Ayub, Shan Masood (captain), Kamran Ghulam, Saud Shakeel, Mohammad Rizwan, Salman Ali Agha, Aamer Jamal, Noman Ali, Sajid Khan, and Zahid Mehmood are the members of Pakistan’s playing XI.
