Islamabad, Oct 14: HEC Issues Public Warning on Scammers Offering Fake Degree Attestation Services. A public advisory warning against fraudulent acts by imposters claiming association with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) has been published.

The alert claims that some people are using scam calls to obtain personal information for academic document Fake Degree Attestation  or re-verification. The HEC has made it clear that no agents or representatives are permitted to manage these services.

Among the public alert’s main points are:
1.In addition to the usual HEC fees, imposters are claiming to be HEC agents and demanding exorbitant fees for degree verification services.

2.Phishing social media accounts that provide phony degree verification services have emerged.

3.It is highly recommended that the public ignore any phone calls or social media messages purporting to provide HEC attestation services.

HEC has made it clear that it doesn’t call people directly or get in touch with them for attestation services. People should only visit the HEC website at www.hec.gov.pk or utilize the official HEC attestation portal at eservices.hec.gov.pk to confirm degrees.

People are encouraged to report scam calls to their telecom providers or to file a complaint with the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) by calling the toll-free number 0800-55055 or visiting their website at www.pta.gov.pk. People who have experienced financial fraud should get in touch with the State Bank of Pakistan at cpd.helpdesk@sbp.org.pk.

The public has also been cautioned by HEC to exercise caution and refrain from disclosing personal information to unapproved parties or via fraudulent internet platforms.
