To enhance the experience for creators and viewers on the web, mobile devices, TV, and YouTube Music, New YouTube Features is launching more than a dozen upgrades. The emphasis of these user-inspiring changes is on control, personalization, and usability.

The mini-player in the mobile app has been redesigned by the creators, allowing users to move and resize the player as they continue to search for new films. Later this year, iOS users will also have access to improved landscape browsing, which will include larger text and images.

Moreover, playlist functionality is emphasized. Using a URL or QR code, users can now invite others to participate on playlists. Users can also add their own or AI-generated thumbnails to playlists. To provide a more interactive element, a voting tool will also let friends and producers cast their votes for videos in a playlist.

With New YouTube Features is  Sleep Timer function, viewers can set a time restriction for videos so they don’t nod off in the middle of watching. This capability, which was first tested with Premium subscribers, is now accessible to all mobile users. YouTube is introducing badges that users can obtain by accomplishing specific goals, such becoming a top commenter or listener, in an effort to recognize community activity. These badges will appear on the “You” tab for mobile users.

The redesigned interface for TV viewers makes YouTube feel more dramatic. Immersion previews of creative content on channel pages and upgrades to Shorts are on the horizon. While enabling interactivity, like reading comments or perusing merchandise, this updated design guarantees a continuous viewing experience.

It should only be a matter of time until these capabilities are available to everyone, as YouTube is already actively spreading them out.
