Islamabad, Oct 13: Pakistan Set to Host 23rd SCO Council of Heads of Government Meeting on October 15-16. The Council of the Heads of Government (CHG) of the Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will hold its twenty-third meeting in Pakistan on October 15–16 in Islamabad.

A press release from the Foreign Office stated on Saturday that “Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will preside over the upcoming CHG meeting in his capacity as the current Chair of the CHG.”

The prime ministers of China, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as the first vice president of Iran and the Indian minister of external affairs, will represent the 23rd SCO Council member states.

The meeting will also feature participation from the foreign ministers and deputy chairman of Turkmenistan’s cabinet as well as the prime minister of Mongolia (Observer State). On the fringes of the conference, visiting heads of delegation will also have significant bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The CHG meeting will assess the organization’s performance and talk about current collaboration in the areas of commerce, economy, environment, and sociocultural links. It was further said, “The leaders will adopt significant organizational decisions to further enhance cooperation among 23rd SCO Council member States and approve the Organization’s budget.”
