Islamabad, Oct 19: PCB Proposes Solution to Ensure India’s Participation in ICC Champions Trophy 2025
India’s participation in the forthcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is slated to take place in Pakistan from February 19 to March 9, is something that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is actively pursuing.
The fact that all other participating countries have confirmed their participation raises serious concerns for everyone because of the unknowns surrounding India’s visit to Pakistan. The CEO of the ECB had previously declared that India must participate in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and had alluded to “contingencies” if the impasse persisted.
According to reports, the Indian government must give its consent before India can participate. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has made it clear that travel to Pakistan is subject to thorough security evaluations.
With these concerns in mind, the PCB has proposed a new plan to allay their security fears: after every game, the Indian team will return to India, either to Chandigarh or Delhi, to avoid spending an extended amount of time in Pakistan.
In order to allay security fears, PCB reportedly promised to help the Indian squad with travel arrangements, making it easier for them to return home in between games.
As there is a week’s break between the previous two group matches, the PCB considers this arrangement to be both reasonable and workable.
Additionally, India has all of its planned games in Lahore, which is conveniently located near the Indian border. This suggestion would be even more feasible if one of India’s matches versus New Zealand were strategically moved to Rawalpindi.
Since 2008, India has not visited Pakistan; instead, the two teams have only played each other in ICC-approved competitions.
